Garlic bread best ever home made recipe.
Everyone knows how to make garlic bread don’t they? Not as good as this though.
My method for combining the garlic and butter makes the best garlic bread ever. Any leftover garlic butter freezes exceptionally well.
It is so easy to make, so delicious you will never buy it again.
Those part sliced French loaves that turn out with a soggy dab of butter in the middle are no comparison to this.
A few simple ingredients combined in the right way and lavishly spread on both sides of the bread. Yes on both sides!
Make loads it will disappear in a heartbeat. Serve it with my Chilli con carne recipe.
- 1 Stick of French bread sliced diagonally.
- 500gm Unsalted butter Must be very very soft.
- 1 Head of fat garlic cloves.
- 2 Teaspoons Schwartz dried mixed herbs.
- Salt for mashing the garlic.
Pre heat the oven to 190 Celsius 350 Fahrenheit. Make sure your butter is at room temperature and very soft.
Take all the garlic cloves and peel them. Now on a chopping board and using a small pinch of salt each time and the edge of a knife mash the garlic cloves one at a time. Or use a mortar and pestle. It will go into a loose paste, the salt drawing out moisture with no lumps of garlic remaining. This is an important step.
Add the mashed garlic and mixed herbs to the butter and combine throughly with a fork. If you have any left over garlic butter it freezes very well.
Take the sliced French loaf and very generously spread the garlic butter on both sides of the slices. Arrange on a shallow baking tray and pop it into the oven for approx 15 minutes. As all ovens vary keep your eye on it to make sure it does not burn.
