I present to you my famous “Hoagie the works” Featuring an 8oz home made burger, jumbo hot dog, smoked bacon, thick sliced ham, caramelised onions and Monterey Jack cheese.
All in half a small loaf of tiger bread.
Definitely not for the faint hearted. If you want to make two just double up the recipe.
- 250g Beef mince min 12% fat
- 1 Jumbo hot dog Herta make them and are available from larger supermarkets.
- 1 Thick slice ham cut from the bone.
- 3 Slices Monterey Jack cheese or Dairylea slices
- 3 Rashers smoked streaky bacon
- Caramelised onions
- Small loaf of Tiger bread
- Sliced beef tomato
- Shredded Romaine lettuce
- Tomato ketchup
- Frenches mustard
- Salt and cracked black pepper
Make the burger. In a bowl add the mince, salt and pepper. Squeeze the mince through your fingers several times and form a ball. Press the mince into a large patty. **You do not need to use any eggs**
In a large frying pan or on a flat griddle plate at medium hot. add a few drops of vegetable oil then add the hotdog and fry until cooked through, then add the burger and fry for 10 - 12 minutes turning once only half way through cooking, then place 2 slices of the cheese on top to melt.
Add the bacon and fry until crisp then add the ham and cook for two minutes. Slice the hotdog in half lengthways and return to the pan.
Now assemble the hoagie. on the bottom half add the Mayo, ketchup, Frenches mustard. On top place the tomato and lettuce followed by the burger, the hot dog, ham and bacon. Finish with another slice of cheese and caramelised onions. Top it off and shove it in your face!
